Hotel del Coronado
Hotel del Coronado is a legendary seaside resort in San Diego, California. It is one of the most iconic locations in the city and has drawn a diverse clientele from all over the world. The resort is known for its enchanting beachfront setting, classic Victorian architecture, and endless recreational activities. The Hotel del Coronado's storied history dates back to 1888. It was built to serve a variety of guests. Wealthy families and clients from around the globe would come to Coronado Island for weeks at a time. They could rent the villas or cottages in the Beach Village. These days, the resort is undergoing a $400 million Master Plan renovation. This restoration will include reimagined guestrooms, event spaces, and a new fitness center.
North Island Naval Air Station
Naval Air Station North Island is a large military facility on the Coronado peninsula in San Diego County, California. NAS North Island is part of the larger Naval Base Coronado. NASNI is home to many military groups. It is the birthplace of naval aviation.
Located on the northern tip of Coronado, NASNI consists of 2000 acres. There are two airfields within the complex. NAS North Island is like a city in itself.
NADEP North Island is one of the largest aerospace employers in San Diego. This facility provides full-service maintenance services, overhauls, and engineering services. The facility also has an engineering development program, a structural analysis training program, and plastic media blasting.
Coronado Municipal Golf Course
Coronado Municipal Golf Course is a par 72 course that offers a challenging layout and spectacular views of San Diego's harbor. It is located near downtown San Diego, California. The golf course is also a popular destination among celebrities.
The Coronado Golf Course measures a respectable 6,590 yards from the blue tees. There are many notable holes, including the first, fifth, and seventh. For instance, the first hole features a tee box on a sloping peninsula that is a worthy addition to any golfer's arsenal.
The fifth hole is a 163-yard long par three. Interestingly, it has two bunkers on the left and right. Also, there is a large area of short grass between the green and the water. This gives the short hitter the option to run their shot off the green.
Azzura Point restaurant
Azzura Point is a grand hotel dining experience. The menu is chock full of upscale California fare, and the best part is that you don't have to go far to get it. The resort sits on a 15-acre peninsula, with the main dining room overlooking Coronado Bay. With a capacity of over 200 people, this is an ideal location for family dinners, business meetings or wedding receptions.
Azzura Point has a few other restaurants to choose from, including the aforementioned posh mainstays and a casual poolside cafe. For the casual foodie, you can check out the Market Cafe, with its plethora of options from sushi to burgers, and a more upscale option, the La Cantina, which serves South of the border style fare.
Shops
Coronado, Panama, is a shopping destination along the Pacific coast. It's a small town, but there's plenty to do. The town's main street, Orange Avenue, is lined with shops, restaurants, and art galleries.
One of the best shopping experiences is to go to Seaport Village. This is a quaint shopping district with 50+ shops. You can get great deals on a variety of products.
Coronado has several large grocery stores. Vons, Boney's, and Smart & Final are all popular in the area. They carry a wide variety of groceries, kitchenware, and appliances. However, the prices differ from store to store.
Another popular area for shopping is Coronado's Ferry Landing. There's a large shopping center with a movie theater, boutiques, and dining options.
Beaches
Coronado Beach is a popular destination in San Diego. The area is known for its pristine beaches and relaxed atmosphere. You can enjoy swimming, surfing, and sunbathing.
A great way to get to Coronado is to take the ferry. You can board the ferry from Downtown San Diego. Once you get to Coronado, it's easy to get around without a car. There's plenty to do in the area, including the famous Hotel Del Coronado.
Many of Coronado's beaches are dog-friendly. In fact, Ocean Boulevard is lined with some of the best beaches in the region. Dogs can run free in this area all year round. Several beaches also have restrooms and showers.
